The Shinju Matsuri Festival is a multi-cultural celebration that dates back to the pearling days of Broome.

Representatives from cultural groups (i.e., the Chinese, Japanese, Malay and Aboriginal) came together to discuss how to combine each group’s annual celebrations into showcasing them in one weeklong festival.

Over 50 years later, we are still celebrating the town’s amazing cultural history!
