'The Turtle & the Trade Winds'
Sandpiper Productions & Deckchair Theatre

A magical night of puppetry, song and story… A not to be missed family event on this year’s Shinju Calendar
Directed and created by Fremantle artist Sandy McKendrick from Sandpiper Productions, Turtle and the Trade Winds explores the cultural significance of the turtle to the indigenous and non-indigenous people of Australia and Indonesia.
Inspired by materials found on or near our coastline, each beautifully crafted puppet was created from an intriguing use of natural fibres and beach flotsam and jetsam.
With original music and song from both northern Indigenous coastal communities and Fremantle musicians, Turtle and the Trade Winds intertwines different aspects of the turtle’s life in a journey of discovery.
